Event Details
Join Silicon Prairie News from 5-8 p.m. Feb. 15 for Omaha's first Startup Job Crawl.
Not quite a bar crawl and not quite a career fair, this Startup Job Crawl will provide you the chance to visit the people behind local startups and experienced companies, see their products in action and learn about the culture of working in this innovative community. And, plus, there'll be beer…rootbeer.
For more on what to expect, scroll to the bottom of this page and send questions to info@siliconprairienews.com.
Whether you're on the job and internship hunt, looking to start the networking experience or simply up for discovering what it takes to work for a startup, this is the place for you. You'll break into groups and venture along stops in the Mastercraft building, meet different companies and learn about new opportunities.
All majors are welcome to check it out and it's free. At the end of the Job Crawl, we'll round students and startups together for After Hours where we'll be serving up some keg rootbeer and pizza, giving more time to mingle with those you met during the crawl.

- “After Hours” networking reception with startups and students
Here are a few need-to-knows for the #SPNcrawl:
What to expect:
- When you arrive you’ll receive a name badge and rotation group. You'll meet with your group tour guide after the opening session and with your group, you’ll make three different stops and visit all companies.
- Your tour guide will give a brief description of each company and then you’ll break off individually to chat at each stop.
- The tour guides will keep time and you will move with your group to the next stop.
- After the three stops, we’ll end with After Hours to grab a bite to eat and catch up with companies you met along the way.
What to bring:
- Résumé - Come prepared with 15-20 resumes ready to hand out
- Business cards - If you have them, great! If not, some companies may find it helpful if you pass out makeshift ones with your basic contact info.
- Your appetite - After the crawl, there will be free food…and Red Bull
How to prepare:
Take a look at these posts on Silicon Prairie News:
- “Turn your socializing into networking” http://spne.ws/BQ1
- "Not a techie? Not a problem. Finding the ‘write’ fit at the Startup Job Crawl” http://spne.ws/BPX
What to wear:
- A cross between Connecticut casual and Pennsylvania business.
- No need for three piece suits and ties but do look presentable.
- From a tshirt and jeans to a blazer and khakis, anything in that range is appropriate.
Where to park:
- Parking is available in the Northwest corner of the building. You will enter in the second doorway.
- P.S. The building is tucked away but if you pass through the gates, you’ll be golden.
- Note: There are limited coat racks in the building. If you can park close and can bare a brisk walk across the parking lot, it may be a good idea to leave the coat in the car for a hands-free night of networking.
